I'm not quite sure what you are trying to do. What do you mean by 'drive
files'? If this is just Dropbox you can share files from the online copy of
your Dropbox store. Anything you put in the Public folder will have a URL that
you can provide. Alternatively you can share the files with another Dropbox
account and they will sync to all machines connected to each account. If you
stop sharing the files you can automatically remove them from the account you
are sharing with (although they could have taken copies obviously).

You can do the same with other similar services, I've done it with Google Drive
and Younited anyway.

I've started using Google Drive to share documents recently, largely because
that's what the people I'm sharing them with use. So far I've not explored
Linux sync clients, but I have noted that there is a Unity Lens for searching
the Google Drive. Of course this will be absolutely no use if your not using
Ubuntu with the default desktop (which I am). So far I've not worked out how to
configure it. I've created the necessary Online Account, but in spite of Google
Drive being chosen in the Dash I've never seen a document show up in a search.
It is also quite annoying that every time I reboot I have to re-authorise the
Google accounts (this looks to be a bug).

I'm using Dropbox as well, partly because that is what I originally tried out,
partly because it has a native Linux client and partly because another group of
people I'm sharing files with use it! I'd like to move away because Dropbox has
seriously messed up my data in the past. I reorganised the files and on the
next sync (I assume, I didn't spot this immediately) it reinstated them from
the online storage back to the original locations - whilst keeping them in the
new locations as well. That left me having to sort out which ones were the up
to date ones because before I noticed some had been updated in the new
locations and some in the old. What made this even worse was that some files
were copied into a shared folder that weren't originally shared (thankfully
nothing critical and only one share with my wife not a wider audience).

Ideally I'd like to be using the 500G I have in Younited, but I'm still having
to kick them to get the Linux client sorted. Being me and not you I think
there's a serious chance I'll be moving to a self hosted Owncload somewhere.

Have I got anywhere near what you were looking for in that lot, or have I
rambled on about vaguely related subjected?!
