Sage accounts is awful across networks, I would first look at if they
can run a standalone version. the last small company I worked with that
had sage, ended up putting it on a Win VM which people would VNC onto to
access.

Have you tried putting wireshark on the Windows "server" and seeing what
is going on there as a starting point?

I have found lots of people complaining about Sage over networks.

Are the windows machines using AD / domain members?
