I'm glad I read this.
Sorry this isn't answering your questions at all, but you made me think
of the USB HD option for backup..was wondering how many DVDs I was going
to need to back up 200GB+ of data...for some reason my brain must have
frozen as an external HD never even crossed my mind :o
