Canon are really sh1t when it comes to Software especically Scanner
Software.
There Windows drivers won;t co exist with other devices of the same
type. For example, the LIDE 20 when installed works fine. Then it stops
working when I install my Nikon Coolscan. This is a well documented problem.
Rant over...
I have an LIDE 60 and it works on Knoppix but not on Ubuntu. Both OOTB
live versions. There is a subtle under the hood difference that seems to
stop it working on Ubuntu. I just tried the same scanner on FC6. It
works fine. I didn't need to load anything apart from SANE.
