Netgear WG511 installation notes
There are a number of versions of this card, which appear to use one of two chipsets: Intersil or Marvell Technologies; those with the Intersil chipset can be used with the Prism54 drivers, while those with the Marvell chipset require ndiswrapper with the Windows drivers.
Installation is easy, once you’ve identified which chipset your card uses. The most reliable way to do this is by using ‘lspci’, identification by visual markings can mislead you, causing hours of frustration — in particular, not all cards marked ‘v2’ and ‘Made in Taiwan’ use the Intersil chipset: I have such a card which uses the Marvell chipset.
