Good point, I may have got mixed up to be honest, but thanks for
pointing that out to me.

I understand that completely, good points there, especially with regards
to spam control (when will the madness end!).
I just checked on GMANE again, and although it doesn't seem like that
they anonymise email adddress by default, it does however have an option
for 'address obfuscation', which can be enabled with a email header in
user's messages or globally.

Understood about each separate LUG as well.
I would tend to agree with you on the if archiving starting from now,
especially with the annoucement to the list, if we were to do so.
For the moment, I'm not too worried about doing GMANE archiving /
connection to the HantsLUG mailing list, my first email was more to get
a idea of people's thoughts about it.
