hi, i'm luke leighton, software-libre advocate and i recently started
an initiative to solve the problem of endemic GPL violations [1] by
err... designing mass-volume retail modular hardware that will be
pre-vetted to have copyright-compliant software on it before it's
permitted to be sold. that sounds ever so extreme but it's a simple
logical progression [2]
obviously that's not the whole picture - a successful business has to
be based around much more than "it mustn't be violating the GPL" :)
from beginning over 2 years ago we now have our first CPU Card due to
be launched very shortly, as well as the first "I/O Board" - a
Micro-Engineeing Board [3], and i have the prototype of the first
"real" product (a 7in tablet PCB [4]) which i'd love to show people if
they'd be interested, and give a bit more about the background and the
goals of the project.
would that be of interest to people at all?
