I guess so. None of the Win8 tools would unlock it. IIRC gparted didn't
understand the problem.
Deleting the partition was easy, but I first wasted a huge amount of
time trying not to. :-(
Win8 recovery seems to me quite fundamentally broken.
I still haven't tried dd on it.
