Yes. Spookily enough, that doesn't cause it to fail instantly.
And given what the Gnome project *is* developing, I don't really see it as
a problem that they're not developing Gnome2...

As with all Free Software, if enough people want it, a viable fork will
occur. It is my belief that it is Gnome3 without a future.
