Haha! I thought you'd say that. At the moment a lot of what I'm doing is for
work, so I can't really give a talk on it, unfortunately. Nor could I bring
the kit I've been working on. The hobby stuff will be slow progress on
instrumentation and electrical stuff until I have sorted a few of the existing
airframes. I have a very big project on the drawing board, however, which will
cover many different disciplines (from CAD to CFD/FEA to composite construction
and linux-based instrumentation and control). I will be giving talks about
(some of) the design, control system and instrumentation aspects of this over
the next few years (yes, note the timescale); as well as the systems required
to run these.

I think you have a very good idea, and clearly, many people agree; however, I
would suggest caution as it is easy for eagerness to be misinterpreted, and
there are many people on this list who can (and I'm sure will) contribute, as
they are able. I think that over the next few years, it is going to be
important to share knowledge about technology (as it is now), and even more
important to encourage people to ask questions and get involved in making
things themselves. I don't see this as being the exclusive duty of the LUG or
hackerspace, but I do believe it should be at the core of what we all do.

Cheers,

Tim B.
