Well, as with most distro releases (maybe with the exception of Debian
stable), you usually have to wait 3-6 months before most of the really
annoying bugs have been shaken out.
I have had a few issues with 10.04 but I solved my last one today (stopping a
really annoyingly loud system beep on shutdown).

So I would go for 10.04 as I wouldn't trust 10.10 at all yet and 8.04 is
ancient (mind you as you run Debian Lenny you might actually feel more at home
with that version... only half-kidding)

The fact that "it works for me" is probably not particularly helpful, though.

It might be more productive if you shared your "failures" with 10.04 in case
someone on the list can come up with a solution.

Cheers,
Steve
