Hi Ed,

I've just ordered one of these for my son's birthday:

http://tinyurl.com/yj7oqxu

[Acer Aspire One 751 / Intel Atom Z520 1.22GHz / 1GB / 160GB / 3-Cell
Battery Pack / 11.6" / Windows XP Home / Netbook / Blue]

Having bought one for my wife at Christmas I know what I am getting (the
good and the bad) and can say that at this price it is overall pretty good.

Possibly not ideal for your intended use, as it only has 1GB RAM and the
dual-core CPU is a bit under-powered for anything other than browsing,
email and homework tasks.

It won't run UNR (or whatever it's called these days) particularly well
on account of the graphics driver needing a workaround [1], but it does
run regular Ubuntu nicely, and the large keyboard and 11.6" screen makes
for better ease of use.

The other issue is the MS tax, which i have found to be not worth the
effort of recovering (Acer insist that the machine is sent back to them
to remove the OS, all for a £25 refund).

So, not perfect but certainly not bad either. My wife is happy with hers
and that really is saying something!

Sean
