VFX isn't too keen on not having a console...

What I did was to run it through screen :-

screen -dmS vfx vfxlinux

Then you can get to the (unattended) console with:

screen -r vfx

Disconnect with "<ctrl>-a d".

This is handy when talking to a target where you don't have any spare
display capability; this works from any terminal you can attach (e.g. an
SSH session).
