At work I use two "mice", a sculpted Logitech wheel mouse to the right of my
keyboard, and a Logitech marble trackball to the left. Allows me to change
hands and action throughout the day which seems to work for me, especially
now I have scroll wheel emulation working on the trackball.

Gentoo here but I see no reason why multiple mice wouldn't work with either
of those.
