If this is a HDD, it's probably knackered. Worth checking the cables &
drive controller as well before you junk it, though.

Probably not.
If the drive has gone, your best bet is to run dd_rescue against it & make
a copy to another drive, then run fsck against that. Data loss will ensue
- but that data is probably already gone...
