I don't recommend directly connecting digital cameras to Computers via
serial(older ones), firewire(eg Nikon D1) or USB.
The simple reason is that the battery drain during this file transfer
can be quite horrific. This can be very important with Point & Shoot
Cameras where sometimes the battery has a pretty small capacity(watts).
It is far better to remove the media card and plug it into the computer
using one of the many chap CF/SD adapters.
This way, you can be taking more piccies while the other one is having
its contents copied to the computer.
The price of Digital Media is very low these days so there really can be
no excuse for only having one card.
