Have you though about using the automounter instead, it will mount your
DVD on demand and unmount if not in use after a set amount of time.

There may be a service or some module configuration running on boot that
is re-writing your fstab file - it is not usual to mount, but perfectly
possible, a DVD disk on boot. Try another DVD. DVD's, as you know, can
have latency or lag before the data is read into system memory, this delay
may be the cause of the problem.
