I am well past retirement but one programme of mine is still out there.
However it is sensible to replace it in case I don't boot up one morning
and the customer is looking around for a more established programme for
his business.
However we have had a bit of an emergency because the programme issues
invoices and other stuff by email which has happened reliably for 15 or
so years until MicroSoft changed their email protocol. It wasn't all of
a sudden but the customer didn't realise the significance of the emails
that he was getting so it just stopped one day.
Thanks to this list I found a company that could help with the emails
but the old email client wasn't working properly and had to be updated
to the latest version. The original licence had to be purchased by the
developer but could be distributed as often as required. I have used the
30 day demo version and everything works OK.
However a current licence costs about $300 which is a pain for a few
weeks use so I am looking for a cheaper solution for the old customer.
If anybody works with this component and knows what I am talking about
and can supply it under licence for reasonable fee, please let me know.
the programme was written in Visual Foxpro and runs on windows. To be
fair I have been impressed that Microsoft has kept up compatibility so
that something written over 30 years ago has managed to keep running since.
