I just read an interesting paper that I thought may interest others on
the list. Essentially it is a study of "how the rise and fall
of a central contributor impacts the social organization and
performance of an OSS community". using Gentoo as a case study and
examining various performance metrics during the period when Daniel
Robbins (Gentoo founder) left the project for various reasons.
