For me, giffgaff have been great so far. I've even switched the mobile
to them as well. The only really dumb thing is that you have to have one
giffgaff account per device. OTOH, that means I can give myself SIM
cards and get the bonus credit :)

£5 to try it for a month to see what the signal/data speeds were like
seemed like a decent deal to me and so far the nexus7 is quite content.

Might have a look at the 3 options too - I had a mifi for a while which
was marvellous - another family member still uses that.

The beauty of PAYG for data is that you can flit from provider to
provider until you find the one you want.
