Subject: [Hampshire] Ubuntu screen res during install
Hi all

Is it possible to adjust the Ubuntu screen resolution during the install?

The problem I'm having is as follows - and is almost certainly unique to me.

1) Install known working USB stick with Ubuntu install image in port.

2) Power up.

3) Monitor clicks out of standby mode to show POST and Ubuntu menu (run
Ubuntu from stick, Memory Test, Install Ubuntu to HDD, Boot from 1st hard
disk etc).

3a) When I clicked run Ubuntu from stick - it worked first time but
subsequently gives me "No signal detected"

3b) When I clicked "Install Ubuntu to HDD" - it gave me "No signal
detected".

I've had this sort of behaviour before on another PC )same monitor) but put
it down to onboard graphics controllers - and subsequently managed to fix it
but to be honest not sure how I did it! The issue is that my 32" monitor
is truthfully more a TV than a monitor but has been ok with older versions
of Ubuntu (prior to about 10.04). I can't tell which resolutions the
monitor supports (because it was cheap and documentation is poor nor does it
give me a list from the menus) nor how to drop the resolution on the Ubuntu
install.

I'm obviously loathe to by a graphics card or to swap the "monitor" - it's
been an expensive Christmas already. Any ideas anyone?

Cheers

Rob
