What port are you sending to? Typically it will be 25, 465 or 587. Can you
establish a connection using telnet to that port of the upstream SMTP
server? If not, can you ping it? If not, you have a connectivity issue.
Try telnet/ping using both the name and IP address. If latter succeeds
where the former fails, you have DNS problem. If you can telnet/ping by
both without problem, you have a KMail problem.
