Two of my clients use Ubuntu in an office environment, and have found it to
be very good. I used Hardy for a while on my own laptop, and it was the
best desktop Linux I'd used, but Open Office was repeatedly slow and
unstable. My partner had the same issue, but this was two years ago, so
things may have improved.

I installed the latest Mandriva - it looked very capable, but it didn't
automatically have any mechanism for setting up the wireless card, whereas I
seem to recall Ubuntu having a bw43cutter tool, or some such.

So... trying Ubuntu now... I haven't got time to dick around with manual
setting up of wireless cards!

Definitely going to look at the Xbmc thing once it's up and running, anyway,
as it looks really interesting.
