Well, I should apologise to ISPs. This time, it wasn't their fault.

Once I got on site, the server was ominously quiet, and the UPS had a
rather plaintive failure light on the front...

So now we know - the Belkin F5D8635 does indeed appear to run some part of
Fedora Core 6.
