I'd look for Shutter -
http://shutter-project.org/ - really great little
app I use with my GNOME desktop on Ubuntu, which is a great replacement
for Skitch which I use on the Mac. It has a simple image editor built-in
which lets you add annotations, too.
A very quick search reveals that RPMs are available but I've not
verified that there are RHEL and SLES-compatible versions.
