Hi,
OK... I'll do it... I've had really good results with Ubuntu 9 live CD. 
I've also used Puppy and Knoppix successfully but I do tend to find Puppy less easy to get on with than Ubuntu.

PCLinuxOS would be my choice, though I'm sure plenty here will suggest 
Ubuntu :)
