[Hampshire] Scanner for Ubuntu

Hi All,
I was wondering if anyone could recommend a scanner (make and modle) that
"just works" with Ubuntu?
I've had a look around, but I can't find anything that is current and is
advertised to work, and I don't fancy investing in a paperweight.
