[Hampshire] Missing pounds

Hi all,

I've had a problem for a while now with not being able to type
a pound symbol. If I press shift+3, then I get a 3. All the
other shift+number keys give the right symbols.

I'm using a UK keymap (though I'd expect to see a different
symbol if it was the keymap) in KDE on Gentoo.

Does anyone have any ideas on what could be wrong?
