This may be of interest to users Toshiba Laptops running Debian based OS's.
I have noticed my Satellite 4090XCDT seemed to get slower and slower
and hotter and hotter the longer it is on. I can hear the CPU fan
running but the main fan is never on. I have had the machine apart and
found the fan worked if a voltage is applied directly.
Searching google came up with this web site [1]. Surprisingly the
package 'toshset' is available in the Debian repositories. With this
the fan can switched on/off and other Toshiba utilities used.
