A Varian eh?

Well, it probably ran an O/S called 'Varian Vortex'. I studied this O/S
when I was an Undergrad circa 1974/75. The O/S Sources came on
MicroFiche and I learned about Queuing Theory and O/S Schedulers from
Vortex, DEC RT-11 & RSTS-E O/S's on a final year course called 'The
Design of Real time computer Operating Systems'.

Those were the days eh?.
Going Off Topic...
Varian are also into Medical Imaging as well as Semiconductors. They
took over a company called T.E.M. in Crawley in the early 1980's. They
made (At the time) Cancer Treatment equipment powered by a Radioactive
Isotope of Cobalt. The Crawley base is still operational. My Father was
an Engineer with them at the time. I did my apprenticeship just up the
road at Redifon Flight Simulation.
