I signed up with various schemes some time ago and did everything I could
think of to minimise these calls.

For a while it worked well, but then they started again: invariably people
with an Indian accent, calling themselves Andrew, or Nigel, or something
equally unlikely.

I got into conversation with a couple of them and they confirmed that they
were based in India. They'd never heard of the opt-out schemes and merely
drew names from UK telephone directories.
