While having a little stroll around the net I found this add-on (there words)
for Kubuntu which turns it into a whole house media and smarthome solution

But not only does it do your DVD and music it can be setup to control light
around the house and security (alarms etc.)
I found a link to a video on you tube, it certainly won't win an oscar but it
gives a good idea of what it can do
