I can't remember the hoops exactly. I seem to remember at the time
there were at least two alternative printing systems. Eventually I
got cups to work. This was with Debian. Occasionally I would have to
delete and re-creat the printer in cups to make it work.
Since I have installed Ubuntu, I just plug the printer in and it
works! Windows can't even manage that. With Windows I have to
remember to plug it into the correct port, as it seems to belive
that if I plug it into a different USB port, it must be a different
printer and insists on setting up a different queue.
I would be interested to know how the colour samsung works, as I
would like a colour networked printer one day.
