Bit fed up of reading about this in the press w.r.t. Vista.  MinWin is
_not_ for desktops - it's more intended for server farms (at least
that's my understanding of it).  Think of it as a "rescue disk" or
bare-bones linux install - kernel, CLI shell, that's about it.  You
then run a webserver (without X-Windows, GNOME or KDE).  MinWin is
about removing the GNOME requirement in effect (i.e. the naff GUI on
windows).
Vista would be just as bloated - it's not the kernel that's taking up
2GB of disk, it's all the applications they insist on shipping without
even giving you the option of removing them.
