If I do a ifconfig on this PC I get the response
Link encap:Ethernet HWaddr 00:E0:4C:7C:22:45
inet addr:192.168.1.76 Bcast:192.168.1.255 Mask:255.255.255.0

So why is it if I go to another machine, and try and ping 192.168.1.76 I get
destination unreachable?? both PC have full network access, in fact I am on
the PC with IP 192.168.1.76 with a VNC connection into the other box. KDE
also reports my IP address as 192.168.1.76.
I think my IP address is 192.168.1.72 (the other PC can ping 72), I can't ping
by PC name as I don't have the host file setup (could never see the point for
four PC's).
I have only ever had the one network card in this PC
Any suggestion where I can check to find out what IP address I have and why
ifconfig is showing the wrong address??
I am running mepis 6.5 (which is a ubuntu base I beleive)
