I think you're mistaken. Last time I tried (probably a couple of years
ago), Windows ran in a VM with a processor that was then about 18
months old. I suppose it depends what you mean by "fairly modern", but the
reality is that you don't /need/ any processor support specifically for
running Windows in a VM.
