I wonder if that's a derivative of the Tektronix Phaser printers...

If this is the same wax-based system the Teks used, it looks marvellous.
Just be *very* careful with transparencies - don't leave them on an OHP
too long, and make sure they are seperated by paper when storing. The wax
isn't that stable, you see... :-)
