I spent a year or so running RHEL on an AMD64. Granted, I was running it
as a desktop, which makes life a little harder, but quite frankly, I
wouldn't do it again in a hurry.

I had numerous instances where I had to run 64-bit and 32-bit libraries
side-by-side. It's doable, but it's not fun.

Unless you've got a real need for 64-bit systems, I'd install the 32-bit
flavour.
