Hello Folks.
Using Sarge 2.6 Kernel.
Did a package upgrade a few nights ago, and a whole bunch of stuff got
upgraded and an equally large number of files were held back. In the
process something has happened to the window manager or maybe X itself
I'm not sure. Startx will boot a default window with a blue debian logo
but after a while the X server returns to shell if I start from shell.
The only error messages I can see are to do with the keyboard mapping
but both it and the mouse seem to work in the interim state while the
GUI is trying to boot. Hence I'm not sure which bit is broken.
Has anybody had similar issues after an upgrade recently (I'm seem to
recall a thread on the subject)?
My reference book on debian is ood now and I can't find the error log
for X either.
