Of course your correct in regard to the HantsLug.  There are the other 
formats, so there is no need to use a close/non-Linux 
platform/protrietary format when I can use an open one.  Unfortunately 
not all media web sites offer alternatives to WMV/MP4.
I guess, "because it's there", is the short answer. The long answer is I 
am trying to explore all the media formats to find ways to support them 
under Linux/Open Source (usually Ubuntu).
This has been a very hair-pulling experience.  I've got two mini-ITX 
PC's.  After a day of pulling at the remaining follicles, I discovered 
that the sound output of one of the mobo's was dead.  Proceeding with 
the other mini-ITX, I now have several formats working. WMV just happens 
to be next on the list.
