[Hampshire] Wireless quickstart?

Hi All.

Does anyone have a favourite quickstart for WiFi?

I've got my card recognised (via ndiswrapper), it can see the AP (gets the
SSID), but doesn't actually do anything - no IP address, no route,
nothing...

A good googling keeps coming back to rather trite answers like "use
NetworkManager" (which I am) or "use system-config-network" (has a limited
list of cards to try - and they all seem to want to become ethx, not wlan0
like mine is). So I'm stumped - looks like I need to set things up by hand
- and I don't know how.
