Intel integrated graphics are usually supported reasonably well,
including GLX, as long as you
are only using it for eye candy. I haven't tried the latest stuff (Beryl
etc) so I couldn't say
what they require. The latest Intel on-board are supposed to be
supported, assuming you
have a recent set of drivers.
See this page:
http://intellinuxgraphics.org/documentation.html
It has a link to the driver man page, which I guess is a good sign.
Although ATI laptop chipsets used to be supported by DRI/GLX, I don't
think they are any
more, and I haven't been impressed with ATI's drivers in the past.
