That's actually where I started, but I had assorted problems with the
capture card, gave up on it and decided to buy the DVD-recorder as an
alternative. Maybe that was a bad idea. I'll revisit the capture card,
which is one of those Kworld USB things (The PC's a laptop). Alegedly
Linux supports it, but I haven't yet had it working, allegedly it recors
from s-video, but I get only monochrome, I haven't yet found a program
that can understand the video that it's tacky Windoze application
records, thoug I'll try that again. The videos are all so old, that
remodulating and recording that way would cause little extra
degredation.
I think I'll try the direct method again.
All the videos could be cut into segments as they're all instructional
(bees and beekeeping) and it's good to have indices to the relevant bits
for use when teaching. That probably means that the disc-space
requirements can be managed. I have a couple of 15G partitions I can
free up and also a WD-Passport with about 100G left, though I'm not sure
whether a USB disc would be fast enough. Nice little package though!
Thanks James.
