What happened

  • BoF sessions where front end database solutions were discussed. Ruby on rails came out as a favorite with PHP as close second followed by CGI and others. Agreed that PHP was to be used with caution and to follow security guidelines when using in the public domain. Stressed that good database design would always make a FE better and easier to produce and good validation at FE level was no substitute for good schema, both are required.

  • BoF on training was well attended write up called TrainingWorkshop available.

  • MarkJohnson played Blob And Conquer, and helped JohnEayrs compile and install The Gimp with checkinstall

  • Various people brought kit for recycling at JamiesComputerClub

  • Despite “not having had anything to do with sales for over a year” Nick was good enough to allow people to buy a few bits and pieces
  • IanBrazier and AlanPope configured SandraLaythorpe‘s wireless card.

Big thanks to Nick Chalk and the folks at [[JamiesComputerClub]] for arranging the venue!
